Decarbonising the future of aviation.

The aviation industry is under growing pressure to reduce carbon emissions as part of global net‑zero commitments.

Industry challenge

At the global level, ICAO's CORSIA scheme requires airlines to offset covered emissions above its sectoral baseline: 2019 emissions for 2021–2023 and 85% of covered 2019 emissions for 2024–2035. This mechanism complements other aviation decarbonization efforts.

In Europe and Switzerland, additional frameworks such as ReFuelEU Aviation and the Swiss Emissions Trading System introduce stricter fuel and emissions rules, mandating gradual SAF use and tighter caps on greenhouse gas emissions.

By combining offsetting, fuel blending, and emissions trading, regulators are creating a multi‑layered approach to climate action in aviation. Transparency requirements such as mandatory disclosure of flight emissions further increase accountability across the sector.

Our solution: Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)

Drop‑in fuels, ready today.

Helvoil produces certified SAF that enables the aviation industry to reduce lifecycle CO₂ emissions by up to 85% while maintaining operational safety and efficiency. SAF is compatible with existing aircraft and fuel infrastructure, delivered with full traceability and verified carbon savings.

Technology & feedstock

The SAF we produce uses the HEFA (Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids) pathway, a commercially proven and certified technology that transforms waste-based feedstocks such as used cooking oil into SAF, delivering carbon reductions without impacting the food supply chain.
